Our kitchen Island...

....  Is ALMOST there!!

 {our antique pulls}

I want to show you more pics but my computer is still being evil and only allowing me to put upside down and sideways pictures on the blog!!! (ahhhhhhrrrg)

But here's one sideways one to give you an idea of how they look:

 {Drawer pulls make life so much easier}

I was planning on gluing pretty old nailheads on top of the screws but now that the pulls are in, I'm not really feeling like I need to do anything to make them look better... but what do you think?

We're a bit short of wood so need to wait for more before doing the sides and I'm so excited!!  It's such a big piece in the room and so when it's finished, I really think it's going to make our home feel so much more "done."

Would love to know your thoughts on the screws!!

Your level of attention to detail and mine must not function in the same universe, because gluing nailheads to perfectly fine screws on a rustic cabinet would never occur to me...

Hey Lauren - I don't think the screws look bad at all. You definately see that they're there, but the finishes match and the screw heads do not stand out. The real attention getter is the drawer pulls themselves. They look great, hun!

Ohmigosh those pulls are GORGEOUS! I like the idea of the nailheads but would worry they might fall off if they're only glued on. I'd probably keep them as is so they're all guaranteed to stay looking the same. Can't wait to see the whole island!

Look at those pulls~ they look like they were made for you. I love how they have sort of a western look about them. I wish you would open up a shop. It would have sort of that old timey general store feel....
Rotate your images before you load....will that help?

wow - amazing! I would leave the screws as well. They blend well and look rustic.

The screws look fine about the only thing that would look better are cut nails and I don't think you could make them fit in round holes. I love, love, love what you're doing with your island and those pulls that Dave found are amazing!

Enjoy your weekend!

I adOre those pulls! The screws are fine with them. I think anything else would look unauthentic. (is that a word?)

I think the nailheads would be too modern, I personally like being able to see the screws. Looks fantastic!!

I agree with you the screws just disappear...also they kind of add a little industrial chic to the piece. Can't wait to see the finished product...those pulls are amazing ...what a find!

From a secure and practical standpoint screws are the things to use. Cover them with nailheads to pretend they are nails? Nah. They feel "authentic" which seems to fit your style. They look great!

Oh my goodness! So lovely, and so unique! Not your average kitchen island. Totally love it.

Im torn between the 2 ideas, like you no doubt, sorry. I think it is such a big expanse of wood they could surely take the detail, how about blu-tak the nail heads on to try the look first? Either way the kitchen is looking amazing!

There's no need to do anything - the screws simply disappear! Cannot wait to see more!

Honest opinion? Swap those Phillips screws out for slotted. May match the old fashioned look of the pulls more. (Maybe its just because I have drywall screws stuck in my mind ...)

I think the pulls look great just the way they are. The exposed screws add to the rustic feel of the island in my opinion.

WHOA !! I came across your blog by searching for some vintage pulls and now I have drawer pulls envy :(
They look amazing but I agree with the person that suggested you swap the cross head screws with a flat ones. Is midnight in the UK and I have been reading your blog for nearly 3 hours now. You are blessed with such talent. Much love from your newest reader :)
