Pretty easy breakfast

I love simple special meals. (Yes, there are times when I like to go all out & spend a ton of time doing something really special, but for the most part I like to keep things quick and easy.)  On the weekends we like to do leftover breakfasts where we use everything leftover from the week in the fridge.

Here's a picture of something I like to do to make it feel more like a treat:

{Yogurt in my husband's Great Aunt Stella's etched crystal dish}

Plain old yogurt from the plastic Dannon containers it in a pretty dish with fresh fruit on top just tastes so much better.  My husband brought home these pretty yellow daisies and I loved them with the yellow botanical in our kitchen:

We loooove leftover breakfast burritos:

This week we ended making them out of eggs, white rice (leftover from the Chinese takeout the night before), sausage, mushrooms and fresh homemade pico de gallo.

{Justin wearing his burrito }

{Here's a picture of me making my visiting cousin babywipe his plate off so I could take a pretty picture of his burrito.  See what it's like being related to me??!}

{And I said I wouldn't put this picture of them in their pjs on here but I couldn't resist.}

Hope you had a great weekend-  Ours was crazy busy but good!  {I left my daily planner/ schedule at our hotel in LA and had it next day aired home via UPS but came to find out this morning- 3 days later- that they accidentally sent it back GROUND...  I am seriously a lost person without it and feel like a total mess!! eeeek}.  We have a small photoshoot here in the "studio" (i.e. my basement) for Piccola Magazine today, so I'm off to clean.

Anyway, would love to hear your breakfast shortcuts!!

xoxo, Lauren

Love that you style your b-fast's too! I owe credit to blogger/ designer "Ancathus and Acorn", she posted her "breakfast bar" - so it is easy to have it out and ready, oatmeal, dried fruit, yogurt - I think eating it out of a pretty container is nice too.

Love the way you clean out your frig and it looks so elegant. I don't have any shortcuts if there are lefetovers and I'm hungry I eat them while standing over the sink...I know my bad but I'm always busy and make time to sit at night to eat.

I make a huge batch of waffles on a slow day, then freeze them. Pull out a few at a time, pop them in the toaster, and you have better and cheaper waffles whenever you want! The yogurt looks yummy! Happy week to you.

Those are champagne goblets--that used to be the standard shape. My parents have a beautiful set from their 1963 wedding. Very Mad Men. I much prefer them to the flutes that are so commonplace today...and you can pick sets up at antique stores. I've used them to serve sorbet (out of the plastic tub like you!) as a palette cleanser at a formal dinner party. So fun! Love this post and that burrito looks great. A great tip for leftovers.

Wow! Just goes to show you that there is something to that phrase, "you eat with your eyes first"...the goblets make the yogurt and fruit look so delicious!

Berries and yogurt are an everyday staple for me, especially now that I'm preggers. I love that you dressed them up in the goblet. Makes eating much more fun!

If you haven't tried Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, it is a delicious breakfast.

Such a sweet weekend breakfast. I love pulling out my "good" stuff and feeling fancy for everyday meals.

my favorite in a jiffy breakfast...thick slice of wholegrain bread drizzled with oil oil & toasted in the oven, top with ripe mashed avocado and a little kosher slat and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. so easy, so filling, so good.

My simple breakfast is a piece of toast with marmalade. Can't be strawberry jam, it has to be marmalade. I have a "little" British left in me and that is one of the main things left. If I can't have marmalade on my toast, it's kind of like having a pancake without syrup. My coffee is always in a china cup and it is my favorite time of day when I get to STOP and enjoy.

I'm loving the new Greek yogurt with my parfait, love the crunch of the granola on the top!

I love making the seemingly simple more elegant. This is a beautiful example. One of my favorite breakfasts...yogurt and berries. A great reminder to make it special...even if it's just me.

beautiful photo's lauren!

my fav is similar to yours but with a twist.

buy the big tub of regular vanilla, but NOT non-fat :-)
line a colander with one coffee filter. pour yogurt onto coffee filter, place colander over a bowl to catch the drainage
cover yogurt with plastic wrap and leave overnight in fridge. when you wake the bowl will be filled with water.
the yogurt will be extra thick like european styled, so use 1/2 of a normal serving. sprinkle with granola and fruit.
AMAZING

Hi Lauren: My favorite breakfast short cut is to bake bacon in a jellyroll pan lined with parchment paper. Set the heat between 350 and 400 degrees depending on your oven and it comes out perfectly in about 15 to 20 minutes, no turning or fuss. When I am making pancakes and eggs for a crowd, I make the pancakes first, and keep them warm in the oven while I scramble the eggs. Guess what my favorite meal is? Are you going to market again? I'd love to meet up with you.

I don't eat many sweets. But sometimes I just want something that seems like a dessert. So, I mix a little vanilla Lite and Fit with some Greek yogurt, then add fruit and a few semi-sweet chocolate pieces and some chopped walnuts or almond slivers. Yum. So, now, I will bring out the pretty dishes to make it even more special. Great idea!

I totally get the babywipe thing. It is a sickness I know, and I have it too. Haha. It goes along with looking at the plastic "cozy coupe" in my driveway and your trike and wanting so badly to paint them. Haha. But your right to be related to us or worse married to us take a very special person.
Love your leftover breakfasts!

Hi Lauren,

Where do you get those oversized botanicals?

Anything for a photoshoot...and this one turned out wonderfully. Something about presentation makes even the "plainest" of food look delish. Oh, and strawberries, blueberries, and bananas help too:)
