So Close!!

Sorry for the lack of posts - as you probably know, work's always nutty right before the holidays!  I just wanted to drop in with a little recap of what we've been up to.

{our front door}

This year we got a bit further as far as outside Christmas decorating goes than last...  We got lights up outside, but Christian wasn't happy with them because they're not the "pretty" colored lights.

I feel his pain... I remember thinking that way back when.  I could possibly be swayed to the colorful side...  There's something wonderful about terrible Christmas decorations.  It's definitely got to be better than the dying leyland cypresses I strung up with pretty white lights...  It's a process.  (We planted them too close to our house so the roof overhang kept rain from getting them.. ehhhhhhh.)  Maybe next year we can have alive shrubs strung with lights.   I'm also kind of craving the big vintage colored lights my grandparents have on their house.

We got a second tree this year for our family room.  It's artificial but I'm really into it because it's flocked:

I'll attempt to take better pics later!  Dave & I camped out in the family room this weekend because I love being near the tree so much.  I wish I had one in our bedroom too.
And, whenever we can squeeze it in, we've been playing Christmas music & dancing:

{I have really big hands}

In my area it's 97.1 that plays nonstop Christmas music.  love it.  I think they probably stay in business just because of their month of Christmas music.

Delilah anyone???

xoxo, Lauren

I'm a new reader and I just love your style! SO incredibly happy to have found your blog... (We got a string of the old-fashioned colorful ceramic lights this year - albeit for our ficus - and they brought back such nostalgia, we're definitely "switching back" to old-school for our tree next year...)
I've got some pix up on my last post of my efforts to decorate. While I'm no interior decorator, it's talented people like you who provide the inspiration. So. Thank you. And Happy Holidays!!
:o)

I love flocked trees lately! I want to take a spray can to mine, but alas, it's already decorated. Maybe next year (if I remember, ha). Your tree looks so natural and beautiful. Enjoy!

Oh - I love Delilah too! Sometimes the stories of the people who call in at night w/their request has me crying while driving.

OMG I think she use to be on in boston when I was in college Years ago or maybe it was LA? - she has a very smooth voice and it was like loves songs after dark kind of thing and people professed their love to their one and only?

Lauren,
Love the front door and the flocked tree. Most of all the fun Christmas dance with your son took me back to the days when I'd dance with my sons and they'd giggle...what great times!

I love the big vintage lights too.
They would look cool in a glass bowl or huricane.
I wish I knew where to buy them.
Love your pretty flocked tree!
Will we be seeing you next season on Dancing With The Stars?

The front door is so fun. It looks like the face is shy, trying to hide behind a wreath.

Christmas music on the radio is the best ever! I would listen to it 24/7 if my fiance would not murder me for it :)

My grandmother had a flocked tree when I was a kid and I thought it was the most magical thing ever! I'm glad they seem to be making kind of a come-back!

I love that flocked tree, where did you get it from?

I love the way you discuss about terrible Christmas decors. Well, I can relate much to this, when I was younger. My siblings decided to paint some old woods and cut them in a shaped-like Santa, but we failed. We messed up with our carpet. Cleaning Hillsborough, NJ house that Christmas isn't a good idea, for the whole clan is in our house. I'm just happy that there is still a Hillsborough, NJ carpet cleaning company open even a day before Christmas.
