Inspiration

You know when you see something ordinary that's just so beautiful?  You get excited about it, maybe take a picture if you can & file it away for the future.   This succulent I came across was one of them.  It was massive and composed of the most luminous shades of green.  It seemed to glow in the sunlight.

I love the feeling of this plant and realized it's often the mood I go for in my own house, particularly our living room.  Fresh & happy with a calmness about it.  It almost looks like a velvet.  It also reminds me a bit of a rug I found that woke up my living room when I brought it in.  Or an old oil painting...  It's that perfect blurring of color.  Ah just love it!!

Anyway, I'm thinking I want to be better in the new year about collecting my inspiration photos & ideas.  Maybe a massive board in my office that's ever-growing??

Or since I have no free walls in my office, maybe down the lonely hallway off of my office???  I might have to go start right now...  The walls are peeling anyway in there.  (One of our future projects! ;)

And...  we got snow here yesterday and so it's really starting to feel like Christmas- yay!!!  Have a great weekend!!

xoxo, Lauren

This plant is so you! You are right, this succulent does reflect your sense of esthetic in your home. Well put and it is beautiful! I haven't had a chance to say that I picked up the BHG mag and thought the layout of you and your family and home was amazing! You must feel so great about it. I think they did a wonderful job showcasing your style, and your lovely surroundings. All the best, and wishing for a white Christmas too! Enjoy~

I'm hoping to do a large inspiration board in my home office as well. I come across so many great things, maybe save some of them and then forget!? Have a wonderful weekend...

surely you have seen those amazing walls of succulents....and yes, you must ask Santa baby for a wall of cork or magnets to secure all your snippets of inspirations.
let it snow.....

I love those succulents...not only does greenery add such a nice touch to a room, these add cool shape and almost structural quality...not as random as a leafy plant...does that even make sense??? (c: And I *love* the update of the inspiration wall! I do the same thing...I get an idea and then I just have to do it. Right now. (c:

Flapjacks (Kalanchoe thyrisflora 'Flapjack' are so easy to take care of.....not to mention they have a great modern look.

Love it! I too need to be better about taking time to gather and display my inspiration. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day work and before you know it a year has gone by with no updates to your board :)

An inspiration hallway would be perfect! Be sure to show us how it turns out. Now go out and enjoy some of that snow with your boys!

OK, I have to do this! Your inspiration wall has inspired me to just go for it and do it! Was always waiting for a great bulletin board...

Love your inspiration wall and since I have a lot of wall space in my studio I might have to do the same.

I started one last year and I really do enjoy it. Once in a while I'll just stand in front of it and look at what I've tacked up there and get inspired all over again!

Lucky you to get snow, wish we would! Enjoy your family this Christmas.

I am loving your wall. I've got a great inspiration wall I keep in my closet and it makes me sigh every time I see it -- which is great, because like most people I go into my closet every morning! There were some just achingly beautiful and spectacular photos I found. I made it by pinning together photos on cork board, and I either got the images from magazines or printed them off the internet onto heavy paper.

I just have to remind myself that inspiration is everywhere, you just have to stop to see it. :)

That plant is huge but the colour is magic, such a clean green I know what you mean when you say it's like a rug or painting! Is it a very large rock rose?

Today I finally had an opportunity to read the article in House and Garden Magazine about your home. I found the magazine at Lowes (finally, couldn't find it anywhere) and stood leaned over my cart scouring every word of the article. Loved it, your home looked stunning. Way to go Lauren, can't wait to see what's next!
