Almost Back!!!

Hello again!!!! It's me, lauren, and I'm at my parents' house (with a computer!) and just wanted to leave a quick post. Things have been great at the new house- super-busy & exhausting in a good way.

The image above is from Calico Corners & represents a little more of what I'm looking for right now- color & pattern. (I'll explain in more detail below!)

We hit the kitchen the first weekend & tore out that funny stage/ petting zoon in the basement down to the studs. (Thanks goodness for my in-laws visiting!!!- my father-in-law is a workhorse and my mother-in-law really helped me get going.) Our (WONDERFUL) friends (a landscape designer & her husband) have been amazing & have helped us cut down dead trees & get started on the yard, which is a swamp (SERIOUS WATER ISSUES!! ) I put out our adirondack chairs under a dry spot in the yard and Christian & I and our dog Ashby have been enjoying them.

This is going to sound really crazy coming from me, but I have to be honest, having all white is DRIVING ME CRAZY.

No joke, it's killing me. Once I put up the drapes I started feeling better, but I'm really craving some bright color right now!! (I'm already way past the "base stage " and ready to get to the stage where I want to add my color!! hahaha) =The fabric below is 'Keira' which can be found at Calico Corners and we used on the guest bedroom drapes.

Ok, off to paint!! I'll have internet on Monday & will be back in full-swing. I've missed you all so much & feel very out of the loop!

xoxo,

lauren
ps- Thank you so much Camila for your posts while I way away!!!! (Hee hee I love all the ideas!!;)
xoxo

Hi, Lauren! I've been wondering how you're doing in the tree house so I'm so glad I checked in today. I go through the same thing with white vs. color all the time. Hey, is that your all white room in the fourth pic? It's gorgeous! It's great to have you back - I think I speak for all of us when I say we've missed you. xoxo, ALEK

Dear Lauren,
I enjoyed reading about your decorating project--and laughed when you said you were tired of too much white in your decor! "Keira"--a linen/rayon print imported from England--is a lovely way to add a lift of color to the room. I thought you might be interested in seeing other fabrics that complement Keira in case you decide to keep adding color--here's a link to the Garden Party grouping of fabrics (including Keira) on the Calico website: http://www.calicocorners.com/category/designer+fabrics+for+the+home/newest+collections.do?leftnav=1

Each fabric is from a different source--it's not a packaged collection, but our own compilation of pretty patterns and colors. And if you want a preview of how Keira makes up in a drapery, here's a link to a vignette shot: http://www.calicocorners.com/category/landingpage/gardenpartyroom.do

Happy decorating! Enjoy your new home.

Lauren! I am so excited for you that you are in your home! I was so surprised to hear you say you were sick of white! But I totally get it, as much as I want to love neutrals, I cant stop gravitation toward color. Keep in touch!!!

I was at Calico Corners today & spotted the Keira fabric. OMG...it's beautiful!!! Did you get your guest room completed?
Would love to see pics and other fabrics you added to the room.

Mary,

It's almost finished!!! I have someone making bright pink dupioni silk pillows for the bed & I've used a white quilt that has a large green pasiley pattern on parts of it. I also found a perfect pink chinoisserie lamp for $30!!

It sounds like it's coming along wonderfully. When you get ready to share the room with us, please share the paint color you went with. I always struggle with going with a nuetral or pulling one of the colors from the fabric.
