Pretty Little Fridays... The Classic Blue Ball Jar at My House

I looooove Springtime!!!  One of my favorite things to do is to bring in things from my yard and put flower arrangements around my house.  (Yeah, I know it's 2013, but I still love it.)  I like things to look simple & relaxed so one of my staples has always been the classic Ball jar.  Whenever I see them for a great price at a thrift store or flea  market, I pick them up.

{Chive blooms from my mom...  I love them in the bright blue jar in my bathroom which I can't WAIT to show you more pics of!!}

I was contacted recently by someone from the Ball Jar brand about their just released 100th Anniversary "heritage" collection jars...  and was thrilled when they offered to send me a set of 6 to blog about!!!  (You can find them from different sources online, but here's one I found: BALL JARS}

As you can see from these pics, the Heritage Collection Ball Jars are a bit more intense of a blue than the older jars, which I love!!!  They're really vibrant & cheerful looking.

{Surprise Sunflowers from my guys}

I've been using them all over the house and the boys have even been drinking out of them.  Although I appreciate a good craft or an extremely-effortful-pretty-something, (my brain is tired and I can't think of the real word for that, so let's pretend effortful's a word. ;)  I rarely do that kind of thing...  BUT... after perusing the Ball jar pinterest page, I got a little inspired and tried a little something fun with the Ball jars for a Friday afternoon happy hour at the office:

(Ciders!  And if you hang out with me, you know these are Woodchucks ;) ;)

We've got lots to be thankful for so we are celebrating!!  Have a great weekend!!

And if you need some real Ball jar eye candy, check out their pinterest page here.

The color of these are just lovely! I love how they pop, especially with soft blooms like you have featured in the first photo. I'm a big fan of these jars for everything, too, and am excited about the new releases. Have a great weekend!

Lauren- My sister-in-law C gave me a set of classic blue Ball jars when she was cleaning out her basement. I love them. So nice for flowers or homemade jam!

Lauren I am just like you I go into my yard and clip sprigs of this and that and bring inside. In fact the blog post I have up right now is about this very subject. You will have to go and see what I use to put my blooms in. A little treat from France!!
Happy Weekend,
Kathysue

Hi Lauren, I was wondering if you can tell me what kind of countertops are in you bathroom and the sunflower picture(kitchen)? I'm almost at the countertop phase of our kitchen redo and I'm having an awful time deciding. They look beautiful with the flowers in the foreground. Looking forward to seeing your entire bathroom.

Thanks so much,
Keelin

fun fact: the blue vintage ball jars are blue because of a certain mineral that was in the sand that they used to make the glass. it happened quite by accident when the ball company started trucking in sand from a dune in northern indiana. the jars were made from the late 1800s into the early 1900s, when the dune was gone. after that sand was used up, no more blue glass. i only know this because my grandmother, who lives in northern indiana, just gave me about 30 of these amazing jars that she'd had in her cellar for decades. she's too old to garden and can anymore and was going to get rid of them and i said no way and took half of them home. then got curious. ;)

Spring is my favorite season, I love your blue jar. I may have to create a similar idea so that I can bring some lilacs into the house. These blooms add a touch of color to any room. The yellow of the sunflowers make a great contrast to the bright blue of the jar.
