Baby #3 & Halloween

WARNING: Total mom-post / pretty much NO design stuff

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year & it's even better with kids.

My children are now both throughly sleep-deprived & coming down off sugar highs.

{Batman & Robin...  I swear they both have two eyes.}

They drove the Bat Mobile around the neighborhood and then we had to abandon it because getting in & out took too much time:

I am also sleep-deprived and have a slight stomach ache from the disgusting amount of candy I consumed.  Ah vell.

...And now onto our Baby #3 news: We're having another baby!!  He/ she's due in mid May 16th & I have about a week or so to go left of first trimester.  {anyone who has kids probably remembers being completely exhausted during her first trimester...  I literally go to sleep between 7 and 9 every night...  If I even make it that late.  -- I think my husband is actually more excited than I am for my second trimester.  He's the best.  --

{Exhibit A}

 ...And if you haven't had kids, be prepared for complete & utter exhaustion.  Like falling-asleep-sitting up-tired. Add in some nausea/ dizziness & you get the idea.   But of course it's all completely worth it.}

We're so excited about the new baby, but I have to admit, with two already in the house,  I sometimes forget I'm pregnant. {until I fall asleep at 7 PM.}  I'm pretty sure it'll be another boy & would love to have 3 of what I've got, but of course I would also love to have the experience of having a girl.  So we'll see.  (we're waiting until baby comes out to find out)  I did save all of my Barbies just in case.

{Peaches & Cream Barbie was quite possibly THE BEST.}

So far I've had pretty great pregnancies & labors & I'm hoping for the same with #3.  It's been interesting to notice the differences in my pregnancies though.  For example, with the 3rd baby, my baby bump has popped SO MUCH sooner.  I guess the belly's just more pliable eh?  But I have to admit, I am scared of how big I might get.  I gained 60 lbs with each of my babies.  I'm already up at least 10, which is right on par.  {eeeeeeeek!}   My grandmother talks about when she had her babies, how she walked out of the hospital wearing her pre-maternity pants.  HA! If only I could!

Watching my boys develop a relationship & play together probably makes me happier than almost anything else.  I took Justin (my toddler) to Christian's (4 yrs old) preschool last week for pumpkin-carving and Christian was just so excited to show off his little brother & introduce him to all of the kids.  He held his hand and stayed with him the whole time.  Seeing them get along like that literally makes my heart melt.  (At home, half the time they're hurting each other & the other half they're laughing.)  SO, I'm really excited to bring another little one into the picture.  The boys are already talking about how they're going to take care of the "new baby."  (By "take care" I know they mean be really sweet at first and then start running him/ her over once they get used to him. ;)

Anyway, I'll keep you posted.  We don't really have any names picked out yet, but I've got ideas of a soft blue & yellow nursery.

{Fern Star in Yellow, one of my newer textile designs...  I'm pretty sure it's happening in there.}

xoxo, Lauren

ps- On the online store/ fabric line launch front:  we are launching any day now.  My web designer just got back from vacation & I'm having her take a look at the site to make sure everything's up & running properly before we launch it.  I can't wait for you to see it!!

I've decided to keep control of the textile company myself (vs selling designs to another large company & going the royalties route) & to approach showrooms across the country about carrying my collection.   I'm in conversations with some showrooms right now, so I'll let you know if any of it works out.  Suffice it to say I'm squealing inside because I'm so excited to even be considered and insanely nervous/ anxious because of how much I admire these companies.

Let's be honest here. Your grandmother didn't wear pants. She wore a dress which may have been waisted, but that doesn't come close to the tight fit of jeans.

Congratulations again! I hope it's a girl. You two would be amazing girl parents. Well, you're amazing boy parents, too, so either way will be awesome!!

Lauren- I had two girls then the third ... a boy!

As for 50% - 50%, you'll have a beautiful family %100, no matter the mix!

Gutsy news on the textile front - but I have a feeling you'll pull it off wonderfully - all the prep work with Helen's gorgeous photography will sell, sell sell your line to just about anyone who gets it.

So excited for you, and ALL your "little projects!" I feel the same way about Baby #3 - that sometimes I feel like she's an afterthought after chasing the two I already have. Then she'll give me a little karate chop in the belly to give a glimpse of coming attractions!

Can't wait for the textiles to go live!

I have always gained that much and, after six babies, always lost it all. Looks like you do it the same way! Isn't it something how different the same process can be for everyone?!

Congratulations.

Congratulations to you and your family, Lauren! As a mother of 3 boys, you hit it on the nail when you speak of the wonderful bond between brothers (not always amicable but certainly lively!). And nothing really compares to the relationship between mother and son - mine say that they never want to leave home and will take care of me in my old age (they are still very young!). Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnantcy, filled with deserved afternoon naps. Cynthia

CONGRATS Lauren! SO exciting! There must be something in the air because you're about the fourth person I've heard about today that is preggers. I do hope you have a girl though. They are fabulous if I do say so myself. Can't get enough of mine!

Woo hoo!!! I will personally welcome you to the "3 or more kids" mom club. It's a club reserved for brave souls who can survive perpetual adventure, daily laughter, sleep deprivation, occasional date nights and messy houses, ha ha. You are guaranteed to never be lonely...nor ever have a moment alone in the bathroom because they will hunt you down. Ha!

Wonderful wishes for all of your exciting new beginnings!! I adore your gorgeous fabrics!!

I saw a Peaches and Cream Barbie at Big Lots a couple of months back. They had a whole bunch of classic Barbies.

I'm very excited for you. Three kiddos is brave. I have one and I'm still not sure when another one will sound good. She's a May baby, which really is the best time to have a baby. No worrying about taking them out in the cold.

Blessings to you!

Lauren,
Holy Hamburger....Seriously, cannot decide if I am more excited about no.3 or your fabric line expectations...:)
As a Mom of 3, it is an elite club, one that requires lots of patience, endurance and positivity...and not afraid to show'em whose boss! Course you already know all about that!
Wishing you tons of good things...and sleep is good.
I feel my bed time coming on soon. I still love to tuck in early and my boys are in college!

Congratulations Lauren! I am a long-time reader/first-time commentor. I wanted to say that I had my 3rd child last year and I have 2 older boys (I think my kids are spaced apart about the same as yours--maybe a little more spread out). We had a girl this last time and if Becky had been a boy, I might have gone for number 4! (I adore my boys and their total boy-energy, but really did want both). Anyway, it is total chaos now but I love it! Best of luck!

Many many congratulations to you all!!! Having had two precious babes myself, I remember well that first trimester. With my second, I actually fell asleep whilst cooking dinner! Spaghetti bolognaise has never tasted the same since!!! Try and take it easy if you can and take time to ENJOY carrying this third little bundle cos it all goes by SO quickly. lol x

Lauren!! OMG! My first thought was "she's crazy!". And the second was "I'm jealous!" Wow, wow, wow... Amazing news, and hope your second trimester will be as fabulous as it was the last two times. :)

My two girls are getting older, and we're having so much fun, would love to expand the family. However, am just too exhausted! Lol!! Hopefully we'll get number three within the next five years.

Good to see things are going so well for you!!

BIG hug!!

Congrats on everything! I really hope you have a girl. It is such a treasure and seeing the way your husband and boys interact with her will just melt your heart. Also, having two bros and one sis I can say my sister is better than ten brothers to me. Good luck!
