Baby's Room Rug

I love change.  Rooms in my own home can start to feel dead to me if I don't freshen things up, rearrange, and/or add items every once in a while.  Justin's carpeting in the nursery hasn't fared very well...

... so I was thrilled when we stopped at Ikea the other day and found this yellow & navy graphic rug for around $150:

It was just the thing to cover up the havoc we've wreaked on the cream carpet.

{Good luck to you, New Rug!}

xoxo, Lauren

I've had my eye on this rug too for awhile--better get it before they discontinue the darn thing. Would love to know how it holds up to your boys (I've got two year old potty training twins.) Will you keep us posted?

Aweseom find Lauren! How big is it? We just found out were moving in about 90 days and I'd love to put something like this down in the new playroom!

I think it's just the right touch! Bravo! As a mom of two boys I know how much damage they can do. Good luck, ;-)

Looks great with the chaise and the wall color! I have a huge badly damaged spot in my carpet by one of my devil cat, I need a rug of my own to cover THAT up! :)

I like the rug. I need so many of them to cover up the previous owner's "havoc" until new flooring is in our budget. Great idea!

Lauren. This is so funny! I was at Ikea yesterday and almost got that rug b/c it's perfect for our new baby's room (which also happens to have navy walls. The room used to be my husbands office and we decided not to repaint for this office). I promise not to copy your drop cloth canopy :) but even so, our babies will have matching rooms!

I love this rug from Ikea. Used it in Max's room last year and it adds just the right about of pattern...plus covers up the uninteresting carpet... yours looks great here!

Nice make-over! I am currently working on a baby room too. My wife is expecting so I have to prepare for our baby girl. Although I am a bit concerned about the process of carpet cleaning. Delaware, Ohio is new to me so I don't know if there are carpert cleaners around here. We just moved in from Hilliard, OH. Water damage ruined our old home during a storm so we had to live with my in-laws for a while since I need to think about my wife's health.

Hi Lauren! I absolutely LOVE your design style and have spent hours (!) on your blog since discovering it a couple months ago. I've noticed that you put area rugs over wall-to-wall carpeting. I am contemplating doing that in my living room (we are in an upper-level condo and are required to have w-to-w carpet b/c of noise) but am worried about the rug moving or pinching/bunching around the furniture that sits on top of it. I don't have the patience to be straightening a rug all the time. Do you have any comments on this? Is it a problem with area rugs over carpet? Do you suggest a rug pad underneath or a heavier rug to reduce movement? Thanks so much! (klipcoups@yahoo.com)
