{Yes, the "H" and the stripes are duct tape}
I had the boys home with me today and the stars aligned (i.e. they took their naps at the same time) and I got to work on sewing my costume. The "pants"/ bodysuit is actually a shirt turned upside down... The arms are now the legs and I sewed up the hole for your head. The yellow "skirt" is also a $3 Michael's t-shirt and I stretched out the head hole for the waist and cut it off. I use the leftovers to make another t-shirt long-sleeved. It's ridiculous and the best part of the costume is the pair of scrunchy socks I'm wearing.
{Argg just realized I need a scrunchy for my hair!}
happy Halloween!!! And to learn the Thriller dance go here.
(SO worth it.)

Lauren- You made a body suit from an upside-down shirt?!?!? You are as awesome with a sewing machine as Buffy is with a stake!

That's totally fabulous! Way to be creative and save a million bucks on your costume!
Too funny- I just had this rave kid explain to me how you can make nylons or tights into a shirt at the Halloween store last weekend:) Your costume is fantastic!!!
I'm laughing, do they even still sell scrunchies? Looks like you're into the Halloween spirit! Have fun!
Oh, this is classic! What a perfect costume.
So funny that costume is awesome! My daughter is 12 and is also going as Buffy but Buffy from the television show, she watched the whole series on Netflix this summer and get this she thinks she's so retro because in her world it's all about Twilight! Have fun!!
I hope you'll post a pic of you in the outfit after the big day. I have to see how all those crazy t shirts fit!
* You slaaaaay me, girlfriend! ENJOY!!! *

I think its look good on you...
Cool dress...but i think you can have a bit more cool.Happy Halloween
Lauren, YOu are absolutely right! Beautiful woods add life and depth to a room. And there is something so weighty and real about collecting things we love and not falling head first into the trend pool.
I have lived a half a century. In that time I have honed a look and feel I love and am comfortable with. Always evolving, but not totally abandoning shaded of the past. I have collected beautiful wooden pieces (some Mahogony~ gasp) that I could never replace (financially and sentimentally). And the thought of paintng them makes me almost faint!
I loved this post. It is sensible, and real and just a sane voice in the blog world of white paint lovers! The rooms you chose to post are updated, upscale and filled with warmth and love of living. Bless you, for this wonderful and smart post!
