Pure Organization Project #8: Tupperware Storage

I have to be honest with you:  I'm fading fast on the organization.  I'm sorry I never got Mr.Linky up last week & especially sorry that I haven't been able to check out everyone's projects.

Last week was a crazy week for sure, but I'm having trouble seeing how it's going go get any less crazy now that I'm back at work with 2 little ones at home.  SO, in the interest of sanity (my own of course ;)  I'm taking a teensy chill pill about the Pure Organization.  They won't be every week.  (There I said it!)  I just can't make it all happen right now.  There may be 2 in a row and they may be every other week or I may have a good month and get them all in, but I just need to take some pressure off right now.  I hope you can understand & since you're all usually extremely sweet, I'm pretty sure you will ;)

But, I do have one for you this week!  Organize & purge the tupperware.  This one came out of pure necessity.  When all of our tupperware was clean & unused, it got to this:

Eeeeeek!   No joke.  We'd made a bunch of meals & frozen them for when the baby would be born, but when we ate the meals, we had way too much tupperware!  (Add that to the inherited tupperware from family who'd dropped off meals.)  Anyway, here was our drawer before:  lots of the lids and bottoms had no mates...

And here it is now:

Ahhhhh so much better.  I ditched all the mateless pieces (recycled them) and put the inherited stuff in a bag to return, and now it's feeling so much better.  The key is this:

I kept one of the mateless containers and filled it with all of the lids for easy matching up.  Makes it so much easier! Good luck on this one if you join in!!

xoxo,
lauren

Lauren, I don't know how you do as much as you do with a new baby and your little guy in tow. I know when mine were that age, not so long ago, I was pleased with myself if I managed a daily shower. Cut yourself some slack. You are amazing!

Lauren, you are such a sweetheart!! You in no way need to explain, justify or apologise for anything:) Have loved your projects so far and will happily continue to join in whenever they come around. One thing is for sure and that is you certainly have given so many of us the motivation and inspiration to get organised, so THANK YOU!! I have no idea how you manage to do all that you do, you inspire me all the time!! Sit back, take some pressure off yourself and enjoy your day!! Big hugs to you ~ Tina x

There is only so much a person can do, then throw in a young child and baby? You don't have to explain! Do what you can do and let the rest go...Janell

Lauren,
You are my hero...what was I thinking when I decided to do a Tuesday Tip every week!!! I don't have 2 little ones...course mine are bigger and in theory less trouble? Anyway, I am positive no one will mind a bit.

But, I wanted you to know I did call my client to see if she wanted to start all her closets before April...and she said yes! Thanks for motivating me with your coat closet re-do to get on the phone! Did a little post tonite.

I solved my tupperware dilemma, I threw it all away! Then I got glass containers with either glass lids or plastic ones. It looks better in the drawer, but still need a new plastic ones for freezing.
PS: How do you do all that you do with two babies?

Yep, me too. Lids in a bottom without a top. Small containers stacked inside a larger one that's rarely used but handy for keeping the little ones corraled. All tucked into a wire pull-out basket because this house doesn't have deep drawers like the last house did. I think drawers are the best for plastic storage, don't you? So, I've already got this one under control, Lauren. Yay me!
And btw, I don't think ANYONE is going to think YOU of all people are a slacker. Sheesh.

We did exactly the same. The crappy thing about our kitchen though, is that it has tiny cubbards, and not enough drawers. So it still looks like a mess... :)

I had a cupboard that looked exactly the same! Only thing is this time next week it will probably be messy again! i am not not sure how, but the tops and the bottoms keep going missing and it makes tidying everything up a nightmare!!! KG

Lauren, I don't know how you manage to do it all with a colicky baby, and active toddler and running a full time business and blog. Cut yourself some slack....everyone will understand. Hang in there...
My tupperware cabinet could certainly use a refresh, so I can relate!

"Yeah, that works..!" said...

Haha! How fortuitous! I just finished packing my son's lunch which incited some Tupperware rage! (not really) But I did proclaim that this "mess has got to be dealt with". Thanks for the extra oomph to get it done!

I have to 100% agree that it feels so liberating to have all of the "storage" organized! I am such a freak about this that it's one of the ONLY things in my kitchen that DOES stay organized! :)

I have to attack our Tupperware drawer again - I think you've given me enough inspiration to get through the ordeal!

Oh Lauren, girlfriend, I am in awe of you doing anything beyond basic survival stuff with your precious newborn baby & sweet toddler running around!! This tupperware tip was just what I needed today. I can totally take 5 minutes and do this one!

I need to do the same thing with all mine- its like a bomb went off every time i open up the tupperware cabinet. Thanks for the motivation to get this done finally!

I added a link to my tupperware storage. We decided it's much easier to keep the lids in their own drawer and just stack the others. Also we try to only keep sets that match each other. That way, it's easy to mix and match lids.

I wish I had caught you before you tossed yours -- I am in desperate need! Where do they all go?? We hit a low point last week when Wes put pasta with cream sauce in a Ziploc bag!?

My boyfriend organized our drawer (I know, he's a catch!) a little while ago, and it is so much easier to find the right lids and containers. It feels less stressful to put the clean dishes away too, when everything has a place! :)
