This weekend was so nice. We got so much relaxing (& eating!) in and even a few random things ticked off of our "To do" list. One of them was hanging the
vintage shaving mirror I got my husband for Christmas. (Yeah, I think he really loved it, considering it took until now for us to get around to hanging it ;)
Our master bathroom is pretty terrible. I have a green fiberglass shower, linoleum floors and the shower/ toilet area is separate from the vanity area (surrounded in Hollywood style vanity lights- aaahhhh) which makes the small space feel even smaller. I hide the green shower with a shower curtain that goes up to the ceiling and have simple shower hooks up for our plain white towels. (The
one pro is the all natural light it gets.) The view into the bathroom makes a great focal point out of the toilet. arg.
We have plans to redo it eventually, but it's not high up on our priority list.
BUT.. sometimes the little things make even bad rooms a bit more bearable.
I decided after installing the mirror that if we just ignore everything
but the shaving mirror, the bathroom is perfect!

Love it! Such a good attitude!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift. I really want one in our bathroom. It adds so much character. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you about living with a bathroom that doesn't speak your name. I'm lucky now, I have fairly neutral and barely over a decade. In the past I've lived with a 1950's, out of date, horrid wallpaper and tiling hot mess before!
Gorgeous find. I have a new version that I love and use every day to do my makeup. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteNice to see you don't have every space in your home perfectly finished and decorated... You are HUMAN!
ReplyDeleteIf it were all finished, you wouldn't have any projects! Hahah, that will never happen if you're a mom, a wife, a decorator... love it!

lol! I love that mirror and if it is a magnifying mirror I could use one like that. It really does look so nice.

Nice patina on that old shaving mirror.
ReplyDeleteRemove your shower door (and frame). It will make you feel better, and make the bathroom look better too. It's any easy fix and place holder until you can do more.

Got to have those things that make us smile! Love that you keep it real! You are the best my friend!

I like your way of thinking and I love the vintage mirror.
ReplyDeleteA seriously great mirror!
ReplyDeleteLife is all about setting and accepting prioritized and even compromises! Love the mirror; great find!!
ReplyDeleteWeird, we have the exact same sink, faucet, countertop and our vanity is similar, just painted white in our master bath. Which is also considerably smaller than yours... High on the re-do list around here and will be adding hunt for cute mirror like this one you found!
ReplyDeletehahaha, that's so funny. Sometimes I feel that way about spaces in our homes... just ignore this, and this, and this. Good way to put it!

I love your attitude make do with what you have! I had the worst kitchen in the world, seriously, two of the burners didn't even work. But for 15 years I made do and now I have my dream kitchen with the best of everything, it was worth the wait! Love your mirror!

Love the interesting detail it brings! You can make anything beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've done exactly the same thing! We have a harvest gold sink & tub in the kid's bathroom (it even has a red hot heat lamp - I call it the Holiday Inn chalet - so bad)
ReplyDeleteI've painted the room a nice blue to play off the yellow and added a mirror an light fixture that helps me forget the rotting pine floor, the tub that only holds 9" of water (which sent me into tears when I was pregnant) and the tile counters...
Hang in there you'll make it beautiful!
What a great gift! Love how it looks! Don't worry, it's such a looker you don't notice anything else in the room!

The shaving mirror is darling!! I remember my first bathroom -- hideous bright yellow tiles everywhere with a horrible vanity!
ReplyDeleteExplains why I like white bathrooms today.....
