Well, I found this adorable little milk bottle at Target the other week. I've been filling it up at night so it's all ready to go for breakfast & because of this little bottle, I get to sit down so much quicker in the mornings & the table looks prettier. Instead of standing at the bar fixing cereal for the kids with the gallon, I can just plop the bowls on the table with the cereal and SIT without having to go back to the fridge for more milk for seconds. (That may not sound like such a big deal , but I'm pregnant and it is to me in the morning ;)
It holds enough for a few bowls of cereal and a couple of little glasses of milk which is just right for us. I've been using it for other meals too. (Normally we have dinner all ready & we sit down & have forgotten our drinks & one of us is back up getting drinks. Pretty much always. Well, with the magic milk bottle (it's getting higher up in importantance to me as I write this post) we can just set out the glasses when the table's being set and plop the milk bottle on the table. (It stays cold for a while too!) I love this thing!!
I might have to go get more of these. I'm not sure how many I'd need to empty a gallon...
ps- I can't believe I just wrote an an entire post about a milk bottle, but I guess that's what blogs are for, right?

Good Morning Lauren, Yes, that is what blogs are for. I enjoyed this little story very much. Gina
ReplyDeleteThis is what posts are for everything that makes your life easier and prettier. Your milk bottle looks prettier on the table then a big old gallon so go get a few more bottles!

ReplyDeleteHave you tried HOLY COW home milk delivery? They are farm to table fresh, and the best you've ever tasted.

I saw those at Target - they are pretty sweet, just the sort of thing to make breakfast feel more like a lovely ritual.
ReplyDeleteSimple joys are simply the best... Wishing you a joy filled day.
ReplyDeleteha ha - I thought the same thing. Here you are writing a post about a Target milk bottle, and here I am reading it and telling you I love it :) Blogs are funny things! Seriously, though... that's a great find! It would be so pretty with a few stems in it, too, for a tall and narrow arrangement.
ReplyDeleteyour boys are so precious, Lauren. hope you're able to get at least some rest now and then. do you drink water and put your feet up every time you blog? that might be your only chance ;)
This is why we love your blog Lauren, because of the way your mind works! xoxo Maria
ReplyDeleteA few decades ago I read a book, maybe "A Tree grows in Brooklyn" where the main character dreamed of the day she would have a little cream pitcher to serve her morning coffee creamer in. (Actually it was evaporated milk in a can that she wanted to replace) It was her way of bringing a bit of class to her breakfast table! Your Target milk bottle does that same thing! And it's probably easier for little hands to pour! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYes it is these simple things that can make us realize how little it takes to make a bit of happines- this bottle is just soo your style.
ReplyDeleteNot to be the voice of doom and gloom though, but I wonder if the bottle was made for "food safeness" if you know what I mean. sometimes decorative items that look utilitarian are only meant to be decor, particularly ceramics whose glaze may not be food safe. I guess it would depend on whether it was found in the tableware dept or the home decor.
Just a thought. Soo pretty though.
I have that exact same bottle I mod podged it with simple black font in "text" all lower case..."m i l k" love it!
ReplyDeleteLauren, I had just picked up one of those bottles. They are on sale this week at Target...10% off:)! Thanks for the post and the beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteOne of those would have come in handy back when I was expecting my second. I was quite sick and anything food related made me even more nauseated. My husband would set my son's cereal bowl out with a saucer on top (easy for him, having just turned 4, to take off) and leave a cup of milk in the fridge. But we inevitably had spillage between fridge and table.
ReplyDeleteBesides the milk bottles are SO CUTE!
I am heading to target! I have 3 kids too and I wish I had a dollar for every time I had to jump up at dinner to refill milk glasses. What a great idea! Also, Lauren, check out my just renovated kitchen for which you were one of my inspirations:

Thanks for the tip!
I was just complaining of this very thing the other night....I need a little milk jug for our family! Thanks for sharing such a mundane (and pretty) thing!
ReplyDeleteI saw those at Target the other day too, and LOVED them!! I just went a little crazy at HomeGoods with glassware for our fridge...It really is the little things. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how it looks on the table! So midcentury. Too cute!

I have that bottle... I love to put milk in it and let our little guys 9 and 5, pour their own milk from it.
ReplyDeleteI need another one!
Isn't it amazing how sometimes the littlest insignificant things in life can make us so happy!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I would get two - one marked "almond" for my husband! Sometimes the most simple objects have the most style! Cheers, Cynthia
ReplyDeleteLauren! That is such a cute milk bottle! Those kids are so lucky to have such a chic mom like you! We have a similar bottle that we use as a creamer when we have guests. We will be going to get this one soon too!

Love it!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing when I was pregnant with my 3rd and had two little girls that couldn't wait for me to get up some mornings! I bought two small carafes (individual size. It made it so easy and they loved their little bottles and being independent. It was like a tea party too.
Lauren - I just bought 2 of these at Target a few weeks ago and am totally smitten with them. They look so much better on our dinner table than the plastic jug. Totally can relate to you doing an entire post on them.
ReplyDeleteGenius! We have 5 little ones, and anything that would keep me from getting up from the table one more time deserves its own blog post!
