Today's the day our patio makeover is up on The Home Depot blog!! We started with our backyard looking like this...
...And decided to add a patio there because we wanted a sort of outdoor family room where we could hang with the kids & entertain. Home Depot gave us a sectional that we added to in order to make a massive hangout area. Our good friend, Mike Carr - of CarrMichael Construction- had the stone patio built. And now we've got this:
I took a TON of photos of the space and explained each and every little thing in the Home Depot blog so if you have some time, check it out here.
I'm off for an installation but hope you enjoy the post!! Have a great day!!

I have a question!!! Let's say its the end of the day and rain is on the way. What do you do with the cushions/pillows/rug? Do you haul them inside and back out the next time you are using the space? Do you use a waterproof container? I really want to incorporate cloth items in our outdoor area, but the hauling in and out makes me crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteYour new patio looks amazing! Love the laid-back, earthy feeling. And Ashby is definitely making that picture complete! I'm heading over to Home Depot blog to see more pics :)
ReplyDeleteLooks so good! The perfect space for enjoying summer.
ReplyDeletelove the space, very relaxed feel, love all the greenery and that table!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! We're putting in a deck and patio soon, and this is just the feeling I want for them!
ReplyDeleteLove how relaxing the patio looks. I checked out the pics in the Home Depot blog. Love them all. Love the green chartreuse paisley pillow.

Absolutely LOVE it . . . we are looking for a big outdoor sectional, can you tell me what one that is from Home Depot?
ReplyDeleteit's gorgeous lauren! i love all the pillows! (i long for the day when our puppy is mature enough to not snatch my pillows off our outdoor seating and run with them.)
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful and a true extension of the living space of your home. I'd love to see a photo of it looking at the house to see how it all ties in. And can you really leave those sofa cushions outside all the time or is a deal where you bring them in and out most of the time?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Lauren. We need ours raised like that too. I will have to get David to email Dave again to see how they raised it as I can't imagine you had that much gravel put in. haha. technical details...!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful space - love seeing the beautiful boys there with you. :)
Hugs, Terri xo

Hi everyrone!! Thanks so much for the sweet comments!! :) For the pillows & cushions- great question. The sofa is the Beverly Sectional from Home Depot and we leave those cushions out in the rain. The rug is also an outdoor rug which stays out in the rain too. Some of the throw pillows are outdoor pillows so I leave those out and I bring the others out on the weekends & when we entertain. I either throw them in a big outdoor storage bin we have near the patio or bring them inside. (Sometimes the rain gets them when I forget ;) ;) I almost always bring in the blankets when it's going to rain. We use them in the yard for the kids and I use them when it's chillier out and have to wash them pretty often. I have a ridiculous amount of quilts & blankets both inside & out so I just end up rotating them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much & have a great weekend!! :)

ps- I'm working on having my fabrics printed on outdoor fabrics so hopefully I won't have to bring them inside for much longer!!
Amazing! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAre you serious? so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteLauren,
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I love it. We are re-doing our yard this summer and this is a great inspiration. Can you tell us what all the plants are that you have. I love the combination of textures and different shades of green.
Thanks!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous outdoor living space you've created!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys did a great job. My yard looks like your first picture but I am looking for ideas to create my own outdoor living space. I am the kind of person that loves to entertain guests. I know that this is an inappropriate question but was getting your patio built really expensive? This is the kind of patio that I would love to have. Thanks for sharing.
